Trax highlights the songs that need to be in your rotation.

Today’s addition of Trax highlights “disco-pop princess” Gavin Turek, an artist who caught fire this past year after releasing two singles via iheartcomix/1finity (“Don’t Fight It,” “Frontline”) and a mini collab album, You’re Invited, that she produced with electronic artist TOKiMONSTA. These generated effusive praise from tastemakers such as The Fader, NPR, KCRW, and even Spin, which named Turek a Top Artist To Watch and called “Don’t Fight It” one of the best tracks of 2015. Her latest single, the groovy “On The Line,” arrives courtesy of the folks at Hit City USA (who have also released tracks by friend of Yay! LA Rachel Fannan). I enjoy this dance floor firestarter you still have time to catch Turek during her FREE May residency at the Bootleg Theater. May 16th she performs with ROOM8 and Black Gatsby while her final night on May 23rd will feature Sophie and the Boms Boms and “very special guest” Caught A Ghost. Don’t miss this opportunity. We have a feeling the hype is only begin to rev up for this exciting artist.

A bit more info:

The LA Native is always clad in a hand-made 70s fringe dress (she has one in every color) and armed with the best dance moves you’ve ever seen. It’s easy to draw comparisons anywhere from Tina Turner to Beyoncé but really, Gavin is her own force to be reckoned with. Even the most apathetic concert goer leaves her shows revitalized and obsessed. Mayer Hawthorne was the first to take notice, not only inviting Gavin to open his sold out tours early on but also bringing her in as a guest vocalist for his latest  project Tuxedo. (You may recognize her as the golden disco goddess gracing the stage with them this past year, everywhere from the legendary Hollywood Bowl to Japan).
