Part Cash Cab. Part Borat. That was the pitch when a down-on-his-luck marketing veteran decided to turn a makeover into a business enterprise. Episode 3 of Brittanie Renoj’s Stories webseries profiles this man’s decidedly unusual road to success.

Renoj writes:

This month on Stories we are profiling Erik Koral aka Erika Simone. What makes him so special? Well he is LA’s only Lyft drag queen driver. Yes, only in LA.

Erik Koral, a Los Angeles native who after overcoming life turmoils decides to use his alter ego, Erika Simone as a themed Lyft driver and picks up passengers based in the West Side of LA and part of the San Fernando area. Koral’s company is called Driving is Drag and his mission is to ¬†help provide a safe alternative to ridesharing for the LGBT community and for anyone who wants to have an interesting story to tell (think Cash Cab meets Taxi Confessional).
