Scot Sothern- Full Frontal

Video interview with photographer Scot Sothern by Daniel Rolnik.

By Daniel Barron

The work of Los Angeles photographer Scot Sothern is a little more risqué  than we usually feature here at Yay! LA.  Sothern is infamous for his explicit black-and-white portraits of prostitutes that seek to lay bare not only the  lives of his subjects, but his own deepest vices.  His recent memoir Curb Service is a sobering account of a troubled childhood and rudderless adulthood, experiences which have instilled him with a desire to show empathy toward the expendables of society.  The following interview was shot by Daniel Rolnik as part of his video blog, Hi, I’m Daniel TV.  Rolnik filmed the short doc over the course of two nights alongside illustrator Adam Roth, who produced graphic interpretations of some of Sothern’s work.
