Coffee on the Deck

Coffee on the deck

A cigarette

I heard you move in the kitchen

Can you find me in my passion?

Be it hidden

Be it hushed

A Love Like Leather

Did he understand

How heavy were his words

Under a pearly moon

When he shouted

I won’t let us die

But like leather

And tiny stitches

Time ripped

And there was nothing left

To keep fools together

Spaghetti in the Simi Valley

A cricket in the yard sings

As the cool night air spreads itself throughout the house

Memories of my parents float

Spaghetti in the Simi Valley

Summer sun set

Sitting in my underwear

Humming between savored bites

A hungry child

A starving heart
