Artist Spotlight on Pennsylvania-based fine art painter Michael Parsons.

by Daniel Barron

Fine art painter Michael Robert Parsons was born and raised in Pennsylvania. Parsons’ interest in the arts seeded early, as he showed an aptitude for drawing by the age of six. This creative hunger became omnivorous as he later branched out into sculpting, music, and digital media. He studied at the Bradley Academy for the Visual Arts in York, PA and has a degree in Graphic Design.

Drawing from dreams and a self-professed “love of the unusual,” Parson’s aesthetic has drawn attention from a variety of magazines and venues in New York and Pennsylvania. Currently, his work is being displayed at Sweet Creams Cafe located in Stroudsburg, PA.

A common thread in Parsons’ paintings has been his continued fervor for the weird and the macabre. He often renders iconic characters and scenes from horror film and TV history and has even produced some music for horror films. For Yay! LA‘s Yay! Horror Movie A Day project he chose to interpret The Gate, Cronenberg’s Dead Ringers, and the camp favorite The Stuff.
