Artist Spotlight on Irish-born illustrator and comic artist Leonie O’Moore.

by Daniel Barron

Originally from the Republic of Ireland, Leonie O’Moore moved to the UK in 1997 to attend university. She gained a BA in Art and Designs from the University of Sunderland in 2000 and an MA in Illustration and Designs in 2006. Now a freelance illustrator and writer based in California, O’Moore has been a long-established presence in the small press comics scene thanks to lushly-drawn collections like Double Dead and Some Forgotten Part. She co-founded the publishing company There Goes Tokyo and has had her work featured in magazines and books across the US and UK, including Heavy Metal Magazine. O’Moore also has experience in pre-production for TV and animation.

Her most recent release is the horror graphic novel LORD, in which a 13-year-old girl senses sinister intentions at summer school on a remote Irish island during the 70’s.

For Yay! LA‘s Summer 2016 Yay! Legends Every Day project O’Moore interpreted Alien vs. Predator and Red Sonja.
