Lauren Ruth Ward folked shit up for her Single Release Party at The Echo.

by Daniel Barron

Baltimore bred, Los Angeles-based folk artist Lauren Ruth Ward left a big impression when her self-titled EP dropped last year. Since hitting the LA music scene the singer/songwriter has gathered buzz by partnered with organizations like SoFar Sounds LA, World Arts, and Play Like a Girl and performed at popular venues The Hi Hat, The Bootleg Theatre, The Hotel Cafe, and Echo Park Rising. A hotly-anticipated full-length LP is on the way in collaboration with producer/engineer, Grey Goon (Champagne Fever, US Royalty) .

Ward’s smoke-roasted crooning takes on a raw, energetic quality in the catchy new femmepowerment anthem “Make Love to Myself,” which saw a single release party this past weekend at The Echo. Shake your hair, roll the windows down, put on your dancing boots, or whatever it takes for you to carpe that diem. The music video for the track is embedded below, but as these pictures can attest, nothing beats that live performance contact high.
