Artist Spotlight on Russian-born, San Diego-based fine artist Evgeniya Golik.

By Daniel Barron

[UPDATED: Now featuring Golik’s art for Yay! Legends Every Day.]

Russian-born artist Evgeniya Golik takes her brush on flights of fancy with her ornate oil compositions that speak the surreal language of dreams and fairytales. After earning her degree in Design and Architecture from the Far Eastern State Technical University in Vladivostok, Russia, she moved on to jobs in the design industry for the next thirteen years. Recently, Golik has made the transition into pursuing her personal work full-time. She has lived and worked in San Diego since 2005 and showcased in local galleries such as the La Bodega Gallery and the Thumbprint Gallery. Her pieces have also been shown in Los Angles, Long Beach, and occasionally abroad.

For Yay! LA‘s Yay! Horror Movie A Day project she interpreted Tim Burton’s Edward Scissorhands. For Yay! Legends Every Day she chose Ridley Scott’s Legend and Labyrinth.
