Time-lapse video of Cecilia Romero’s new mural in Silverlake.

By Daniel Barron

Cecilia Romero, aka Cecilia Paints, has grown up in Los Angeles’ Silverlake district with her twin sister Beah all her life. Together they have become a double threat in street art and music, from nights of teenage abandon wheatepasting together to their recent stage dominations as the punk group Flames of Durga.

Cecilia has spent the last two years leaving a significant mark on her hometown, with her exuberantly expressive murals becoming a well-recognizable part of the community’s voice. Her latest addition, which she began crafting on February 5th, is located in an alley off of Sunset and Reno and captures the same high-watt energy that has made the Romero sisters so in-demand. Take a closer look into Cecilia’s method with the time-lapse video below, edited by Flames of Durga drummer Nate Million.
